Dionne is committed to sharing survivor stories, of women and girls who have experienced domestic abuse and other traumas.
We envision a world where women and girls can live in safety. Until this is a reality, Dionne will continue to help survivors heal by sharing their stories of bravery and raising awareness of domestic abuse on individuals, families and society.
Her Story
Founded in 2018, Donna Ward Books was launched from the personal experiences of author Dionne Simpson. A black woman who has survived traumas from abuse since childhood. Dionne’s unique perspective gives guides readers to explore difficult themes of abuse, trauma, recovery and healing through the lens of spirituality. Her journey helped her discover that there is ‘Purpose in the Pain‘
Donna's Diary
Donna Ward is a fictional character, created by author Dionne Simpson, enabling her to remain anonymous and stay safe from her abuser, while still sharing her life with the world. After being 'outed' in 2020, Dionne made the brave decision to come out and tell her story as herself. While Dionne no longer needs this protection, Donna Ward continues to provide anonymity for victims and survivors by sharing their real stories with the protection of anonymity.
